Can Consolidation In The Lower Right Lobe Of The Lung Be Part Of Pneumonia?

My CT scan shows a consolodation measuring 4.4X6.1 cm in the lower right lobe of the lung, I am just getting over pneumonia. Could this be fluid??? from the pneumonia. Also I have a very dry cough, and at times I have dry heaves with mucus. Chest pains...I'm guessing this is lung cancer. I am scheduled to have a biobsy next week.

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Your CT finding suggests consolidation in lower right lobe .It is due to pneumonia. There is typical appearance of consolidation in imaging. It is shown as air bronchogram and it is typical of pneumonia. It can't be fluid.

In non responding cases of pneumonia with antibiotics, biopsy should be done after clinical assessment,so you should go for biopsy.
Biopsy will confirm the cause and appropriate management can be done.
Your symptoms are related to pneumonia.

Hope I have answered your question.
Take Care
