Hi. I am 24 YO and taking azurette (birth control) for 1,5 years. I am nutritionist, so I always control what I m eating. But from time I started taking those medicine I gained about 16 pounds and I don t know how to lose them. Can you give me some advises, please? Thanks
It’s quite common to have a slight increase in weight immediately after beginning birth control. This is often the result of water retention, not actual fat gain. It’s almost always temporary.
Doing frequent exercise & eating a healthy, balanced diet will do more good than harm in the long term. Adopting a more active lifestyle may help you drop the few pounds you might gain after starting birth control.
Extremely high levels of estrogen can sometimes affect appetite & cause water retention. If your contraceptive pill has a high dose of estrogen, it is more likely to cause weight gain. If that’s the case, talk to your doctor about changing the contraceptive pills so that you can have a lower level of estrogen that doesn’t affect your appetite or your weight.
Hope the suggestions given above would be useful.
