Can Contraceptive Pills Be Started Before Menstruation?

Hey, just curious I got birth control last time I went in to get checked just because I havent started my period in 2 months. I was supposed to start my period last week and have yet to start. The pack says to start on the Sunday after you were supposed to start or have started... is it a good idea to go ahead and start now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear thanks for the question.

I advise my patients to always start with the first day of periods. Since you haven't got your periods for two months you should also wait for the periods. It will rule out pregnancy as well as it is standard practice. Regarding starting from Sunday, it is for better remembering. But that can be remembered by you by first day of cycle too.

So you start once your periods come.

I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write for follow up queries. I wish you good health. Please hit a thanks. Thank you
