Can Detached Retina Be Repaired While Suffering From Episcleritis?
Hi, I have been diagnosed with episcleritis. I have had a recurring episode in the spring in the last 2 years. The last one was really scary, too close to the cornea. This has happened in my left eye. I have had tests done but we don't know what causes it. The part that really scares me is that I have a detached retina in my right eye and ma completely blind. I worry that I wont catch the scleritis in time and it will effect my cornea. I still have episodes every now and then with the inflammation but not as serious as the episodes in the spring. What should I do? I go to an regular opthalmologist and have seen 1 specialist. The detached retina is a childhoood disorder, told I have had it too long to repair. I am 54 years old and very scared. I wake up every night and open my eyes so make sure i still have my vision.
Hello It seems from the history that you are having recurrent episodes of episcleritis in one eye and in another eye you have lost vision because of retinal detachment. I understand your apprehension, no need to worry episcleritis is a benign disease it will not lead to loss of vision. However in few cases they may be associated with some autoimmune diseases and requires evaluation to rule out the same. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for evaluation to rule out the same and to prevent recurrent episodes of episcleritis.
Thank you
