Can Double Dosage Of Metoprolol Be Taken To Lower Blood Pressure Levels?

I have taken 25mg metotoprol 2x daily for several years to control bp. I am 67 years old and weigh 136. F. Several times lately, when I take my blood pressure at the pharmacy, it has been high. 140/84. I am feeling anxious and have a slight headache. Is it ok to double my medication for awhile to see if I can get it down?

25 mg is a very low level. It is quite easy to see if it is enough by monitoring the pulse. It should be lowered by the drug or it isn't working
