Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Ejection Fraction Be Improved After Stent Implantation?
I was implaneted a stent for MI in March this year (2011). Before angioplasy, echocardiogram showed my LV ejection fraction 49%. Can I improve my ejection fraction further? Please let me know the foods, vitamins, drugs i can take to improve my heart's EF.
Normally ejection fraction may improve slightly after stenting. But having 49% Ef is not bad. Normal Ef is more then 55%. Healthy lifestyle like avoiding fatty, oily and high calorie diet, regular exercises, fish oil or fish, green leafy vegetables, fruits and avoiding meat etc will help. Lipid profile 6 monthly or yearly if it's deranged. Avoid smoking active or passive and alcohol if any. In the drug, antiplatelet like aspirin and clopidogrel, statins, beta blockers and ace inhibitor, which you must be on.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Sagar Makode
