Can Excessive Alcohol Consumption Cause Black Stool?
hi.. i have been consuming alcohol for almost daily for almost daily since last 4 to 5 mnths.. yesterday i had maggi noodles mixing it with 5 cheese slices. and today morning i got black stool but non smelling.. is there anything should i worry about?
Black stool may be normal in some cases and caused by ingesting certain medicines, such as iron supplements. Sometimes, black stool can also be caused by a serious condition, such as bleeding in the digestive tract. Alcohol also causes bleeding in gastrointestinal tract. Black stool that is tarry in texture and foul smelling is a symptom of upper gastrointestinal bleeding from esophagus, stomach or small intestine. This is called melena. Advice 1. Stop alcohol consumption immediately. You can visit a de-addiction center of your local area 2. Investigations – routine examination of stool, stool occult blood test, blood Hb% 3. Albendazole 400 mg only once in the morning empty stomach for de-worming 4. Take food rich in probiotics such as yogurt, high-quality dark chocolate, and green pickle Thanks
