Can Exercising Being Overweight Lead To Body Pain?

I am a 47 year old Canadian RN, overweight at 215 lb and 5 ft 3 1/2. Recently began exercising; weight-lifting. No injury noted. 1 week ago (4 days after last workout), sudden onset of right groin pain - first noted when changing position from sitting to standing. Nerve-type pain, shooting down leg. Pain-free in the morning. Pain continues to be worst when I stand up after sitting for a while - it is 8 to 9 out of 10 in severity then. No palpable lump, area non-tender. Awaiting u/s to rule out hernia/ovarian issues. Normal urination, bowels slightly constipated. No nausea. Hx 3 c/s, hyster, chole, tubal ligation.

hello there,
Judging on your history which is detailed and very good there are 2 possible diagnosis.
1) An inter-vertebral disc prolapse in the lumbar region between L3-S1. Exercising you may have strained your back and this would have led to this.
2) Renal stone with associated ureteric colic. But this can be ruled out with a Usg.

Hope this helps ,
Thank you for your query,
Dr Arun A
