Can Family History Of Rheumatoid Arthritis Cause Cracking In Wrist?

Hello - My 7 year old granddaughter s wrist crack continuously. I believe it is causing her discomfort and is becoming very self-consciousness of it. When I take her hand she ask me if I m okay with her wrists cracking. Her parents have asked my granddaughter s pediatrician about this, who said it was nothing to be concerned about. Her wrists started cracking or catching about 7 months ago (6 years old). She did not have any symptons of flu or anything when this started. Her left wrist is the worse. Also, she is a picky eater. She will not eat most vegetables and meat is only chicken tenders. We do have family history of rheumatoid arthritis, which is a concern to me. I do appreciate your input and is there anything nutritional, etc... that can be done to help my granddaughter. Thank you.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, welcome to HCM.
Family history of rheumatoid arthritis doesn't lead to cracking sound at wrist joints.
Cracking sound at wrist joint in a 7 year old child could be due hypocalcemia. In my opinion, you should do complete blood count, calcium and phosphate levels, x ray wrist ap view to rule out calcium deficiency.
I hope this will help you.
Take care.
