taking your depression quiz my score was 29 mild depression.. My mother is bipolar and depression runs in my family. I have always been Happy and never had issues. My daughter caught the flu in dec 2013 for about 6 weeks I never left her side for she was put on life support due to necrotizing pheunmona on her 22 feb. 1 2013 her 22 bday she past away.. could my grief still be causing my mild depression now?
I can understand your concern. In most of individuals after the death of a loved one normal grief lasts for about 6 months. In about 6 months individuals start to accept the loss and they start to adjust to the loss. If the grief symptoms persist beyond 6 months then this requires urgent psychiatrist evaluation to rule out depression. You have taken the quiz and it showed mild depression. In my opinion you should not rely on quiz and visit a psychiatrist for proper evaluation. If it comes out to be depression after evaluation then take proper treatment. In most cases antidepressants like SSRIs are very useful for relief. Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Sertraline etc are used commonly. Apart from this in mild depression cognitive therapy also have excellent roles in depression. Please visit a psychiatrist for detailed treatment.
Thanks, I hope this helps. Take care
