Can Having Nasonex Cause Ulcers In Mouth?

Dr. Grief, I have used Nasonex for about a month...only at bedtime... Have recently felt ulcers in the back of my mouth...for a couple of weeks... Is there any history of this, or any reason nasonex use would be the cause of ulcers in the mouth? Thanks, Bert

Hi,

Nasonex contains mometasone, a steroid that is often used to treat mouth ulcers. So it is unlikely that it is the cause of your mouth ulcers. But it can cause immunosuppression, which can result in fungal infections like thrush. If you are having white colored patches on the back of your throat, then most probably they are not ulcers but thrush. If so, please inform your doctor so that Nasonex can be stopped and an antifungal started.

Best wishes.
