Can Having Appendectomy Cause Irregular Periods?

My period has been regular for as long as I can remember. 2 cycles ago it started coming irregularly taking longer (30-35 days). I just had an appendectomy last Friday and am curious if this could be the reason why. Could the infection have messed up my cycle? I am 5 9 and 170 lbs.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Undergoing appendix removal by means of surgery is not known to be associated with causing irregular periods. The reason why your periods could have been taking a little longer than usual could be during the convalescence phase after surgery.
Kindly relax and take medications as prescribed. Eat healthy food and drink good quantity of fluids.
It takes about 4 to 6 weeks for the body to get back to normal after any surgery. After a couple of months, you should start geeting cycles back to normal.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
