Can Heavy Physical Activity Lead To Early Menstruation ?
I am 30 year old female. Normally my menstruation cycle is of 40 days. It could get delayed but till date I never had experience of early periods then the expected cycle. But this time my menstruation happened after 20 days of the previous periods. This was quite surprise to me as it happened first time to me. I don t have PCOS or PCOD. I do have hypothyroid and insulin resistence since last 2 years as a result of which periods delayed but never happened early. But this year I went to one pilgrim place where I climbed a mountain which has 3500 stairs. That means I walked a lot and climbed 3500 stairs at a time. Normally I am lazy person and not moving much but for few days I did some heavy physical activity like walking, climbing mountains, cleaning house etc. Can this be a cause for early periods.
menstrial irregularities are common. Stress can cause early or delayed periods. You need not panic unless this continues for morw times. Irregular cycles with foul smelling discharge should raise alarm. I would advise you to meet a consultant in this regard and get a complete work up done with a pap smear and a complete blood count.

Hello.Welcome to HCM forum.Your early periods are most likely due to hormonal disturbances resulting from long standing hypothyroidism and insulin resistance. It has nothing to do with your physical exertion.Rather your regular physical activity will improve your insulin resistance and prevent you from getting diabetes in future, for which you are prone to get. Thanks and good luck.
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare Magic forum.
Menstrual abnormalities are common in women of your age group. Irregular periods commonly result from anovulatory cycles ( during which ovulation does not take place), endocrine disturbances and a variety of other causes. Since you do have insulin resistance and hypothyroidism, I would suggest that you get yourself screened for PCOD/PCOS again as these conditions are associated with PCOD. Stress can be a cause of menstrual irregularities occasionally. However, it would be best to see your gynaecologist if your symptoms recur.
Take care
