Can Hernia Cause Heart To Skip When Having Burp Or Belch?
ive noticed when i burp or belch, my heart skips beats or feels like it stops while the burp is coming up then starts back with a strong beat when the burp is out. i am 36. i was diagnosed with acid reflux and a hiatal hernia when i was 17. could the hernia be the cause of this?
Regarding your concern, I would explain that this reaction is quite normal when having hiatal hernia. It is related to the increase in the abdominal pressure and the elevation of the diaphragm. But it does not indicate any underlying cardiac disorder.
So, there is nothing to worry about!
I would recommend avoiding spicy food and large meals. It is recommended to eat more frequently in small portions.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
