Hi, my age is 29 and a mother of a bay girl of 3 yrs. My height is 5.4 and weight is 60 kgs. I am in 7th month pregnancy and underwent scanning. Doctors said that the baby has some problem in heart and muscles as there is some mismatch in chromozomes. They suggested me for abortion. I am worried whether I can go for abortion at this time and if yes, care to be taken before and after abortion. Also please suggest me which is the best way for abortion.
Hello, It is very unfortunate that your baby has been diagnosed with a chromosomal defect. At this stage of pregnancy, the usual method adopted to terminate the pregnancy is to induce labor. This can be done either by using prostaglandins in the form of vaginal tablets, gels or oral medication and/or stripping or use of oxytocin injection as a controlled infusion to initiate labor and continue it. It may take a couple of days for the whole process to complete. If this fails, the only alternative left is to terminate by a cesarean section. Hope this helps.
