I have been taking Neomercazole for hyperthyroidism (which i got during pregnancy mostly) Started with 30 mcg per day before 18 months and now on 5mcg per day. Had lost 8 kgs due to hyperthyroidism and have gained 20 kgs, overall weith gain of 12 kgs. Can i go on a Hcg diet for weight loss or will that be taking risk with hyperthyroidism ?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,

Two things
1. This is not an approved treatment for weight loss. Long term benefits and risks are not well studied
2. If you are taking HCG it will worsen your thyroid status as it stimulates thyroxine to produce more thyroid hormones.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
