Hello,
Medical abortion should be done only under medical supervision after a complete evaluation and a sonogram to know the age and location of the pregnancy. Else, it is likely to cause incomplete abortion, heavy bleeding, infection and infertility in future. Rarely, the chance of trying to abort an ectopic pregnancy with grave consequences also exists. Based on the period of pregnancy feasible for medical abortion, dosage schedule is given, the process usually takes one to two days and a follow up along with a sonogram is done to ensure completion of abortion. Hope this helps.
