Can Icing Alleviate The Pain In The Hip Caused By A Fall?

I had a minor fall and hurt my hip, how can I use ice and heat most effectively. The fall was Saturday and it has been pretty painful. I have been using ice packs periodically over the last 48 hours, should I continue ice or start using a heating pad now.

Hi
Thanks for asking your question on HCM
Ice pack is best for acute pain or a new swollen or inflammed injury.Heat is good for a chronic pain or an injury that is a day or more old.You can therefore continue with heat. However, the underlying cause of the pain you are feeling is the inflammation in the tissues after the trauma.I suggest you get pain/antiinflammatory medications too like ibuprofen.
Wish you a speedy recovery
