Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have over a couple of months taken Advil 200mg up to 8 a day because of severe pain in my right lung. I have now been diagnosed with lung cancers. Yesterday When I urinated there was a lot of blood in the urine. I drank a fair bit of water over the next 2 hrs and the was minimal blood . About 3 hrs. ago I took 400 mg. Advil, and when I 2 hrs. later urinated there was a little blood in my discharge. I will be seeing a specialist in 6 days and just want to know if the Advil has caused the blood
Hello and thanks for posting. Sorry to hear about your symptoms and the diagnosis of lung cancer. Blood in the urine can be worrisome and there are many causes including cancer. when you actually urinate blood then cancer needs to be ruled out by a Urologist. They typically perform CT scans of your abdomen and pelvis and also perform a cystoscopy where they look inside your bladder. Sometimes infections can be the cause as well as kidney stones. But cancer always needs to be ruled out. It is unlikely that advil was the issue. Best of luck to you.
