Can Long Term Usage Of Klonopin Cause Discharge From Nipples?
I am 57 yrs.old and I have a yellowish discharge from my nipples not very much and I noticed last night. My mammogram from June came back good and I have never been pregnant.I noticed they said if you are on anti depressants this may be why .I have been on klonipine 2mg a day for about 18 yrs.
Klonipine or clonazepam is a benzodiazepine and nipple discharge is not a common side effect of this drug. Apart medications, bother potential causes of gelactorrhea are some herbal supplements, such as fennel or fenugreek seed.
If you have not used these herbal supplements recently my advice for you is to do the prolactin test because the most common cause of galactorrhea is a non-cancerous pituitary tumor called prolactinoma.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Elona Xhardo, Endocrinologist
