Can Long Term Usage Of Methamphetamine Cause Lymphoma?
I am a 50 year old former meth user. I smoked, injected and snorted for approx. 7 years and was a heavy user. I have been clean for three years but are having problems with shortness of breath, excessive sweating day and night. I also have pain in my spleen area and swollen lymph nodes. Can meth cause lymphoma?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Ina Zaimi's Response
Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concerns.
Actually, studies have shown that people who used crystal methamphetamine at least once a week may be nearly four times as likely to develop non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) as people who use it less frequently or not at all.
You have to visit your local doctor in order that he or she checks for swollen lymph nodes, including in your neck, underarm and groin, as well as a swollen spleen or liver. In order to rule out the possible lymphoma, I would suggest you as a beginning to make a complete blood count, an X-ray and/or CT scan.
Hope I answered to your question. Don't hesitate to ask again.
Kind Regards, Dr. Ina Zaimi
