Can Massive Hemorrhage In Liver Cause Enlarged Spleen?
Can an enlarged spleen (2-3X normal showed on an autopsy) be from massive hemorrhage? I have been told different things--that the spleen should shrink if there is a massive hemorrhage in the liver--also been told that spleen could be enlarged because of massive bleed.

No, this is not true. Massive hemorrhage would be seen as free blood in abdominal cavity and enlarged spleen is not sign of massive hemorrhage enlarge spleen may be sign of some heamtological or liver disorders and may contribute to various death causes but if there was no blood seen outside the spleen in abdomial cavity then this is not massive hemorrhage.
