Can Mastoiditis Occur Without Any Apparent Symptoms?

Hi,
My husband recently had a fall from about 7 feet and landed on his head. We went to the emergency room and they performed a CT scan. The results showed that he has fluid in his left mastoid air cells, which has nothing to do with his fall, as we understand. They have prescribed antibiotics, even though my husband has had no symptoms whatsoever of mastoiditis. How could he be diagnosed with a condition for which he has no symptoms?

hi
what i can corroborate from your history is that there is an incidental finding of fluid in mastoid cells in ct scan.
i think this can be a hemomastoid after his fall from height.
yes this can be some times symtomless.
the antibiotics will prevent if any secondary infection prevails.
regards
