Can Milia Grow In Toddlers And What Causes Redness Around The Bumps?
My son is 14 months old and has had 4 tiny white dots on his chin since he was a baby, but they were not visible unless the skin was stretched. A few months ago he had a fever of 102 for a couple days and the top bump became red and almost pimple looking but it returned to normal after a couple days without us putting anything on it. About a month and a half ago my son had another fever that got up to 104 and the bump and area around it again became red and inflamed. We took him to his doctor who tested it for fugal, bacterial or virus and all of those came up negative. She prescribed Bactroban which we used for the prescribed 5 days. That did not resolve the issue so we took him to a dermatologist who believes my son has milia. I have looked online and am not convinced that is what it is. Can milia grow? it looks as if the top bump has gotten slightly larger and the skin around the bump remains red-ish. It looks better in the morning but as the day progresses the area around the bump gets more red. Sometimes the skin peels, and sometimes it looks like a pimple but never comes to a head. what could he have? How can I make it go away?
