Hi Doctor! My name is Mamatha. I usually get periods between 28 and 31 days. I'm 35 years old and I'm on oral thyroxin for thyroid issues and also have PCOD for which I have undergone treatment. I'm trying to conceive now. I had my last period on 26th of August 2012 and currently my periods is late by 14 days. I have no symptoms of pregnancy so far. I'm scared to do a pregnancy test myself as I've been disappointed many a times. I'm also suffering from gastic trouble. I'm feeling some kind of pull in my belly button, and have sore breasts. Do you think It can be a sign of pregenancy? Also how long should I wait to see the doctors for confirmation to know if I'm pregnant at all??
Welcome to healthcaremagic, Missed periods is a sign of pregnancy where as Pull in belly button and sore breasts are not signs of pregnancy. I recommend you to do a urine pregnancy test and as you are 14 days past your missed period it will give reliable pregnancy test result. If the test line is lighter, same or darker than the control line it indicates pregnancy. If it turns to be positive, you should contact your obstetrician at the next available date for further check up. Hope that answers your question. Regards, Dr.Imaad (if the answer has helped you, please indicate this)
