Can My HSV 2 IGG Test Be A False Positive?

I m a 46 yr old male and today I was informed that I tested positive for HSV 2 IGG test with a reading of 1.86, but negative on the HSV 1/2 IgM. I am absolutely devastated and in shock as I have never had an outbreak or even a cold sore in my life. The reason I was tested is that the women I am dating asked me to. Is there any chance this could be a false positive result since I have never had any type of outbreak?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Perhaps you have previously had a sub-clinical infection that went unnoticed. If you do not have active herpes blisters, you should be okay.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
