Can My Daughter Who Is Suffering From Foveal Hypoplasia Develop Macular Dystrophy As A Consequence ?
Hello, My nearly 9-year-old daughter has been diagnosed with foveal hypoplasia . Is her condition likely to remain stable or might she develop macular dystrophy as a consequence? Thank you, Astrid Sperneder
Hi Astrid.., fovea is a part o the retina where the rays converge to form image ..
Hypoplasia means , there is no development of the fovea..,
hence this will lead to visual disturbanced and diminished vision...
for more information you need to consult ophthalmologist,..
Hope I have answered your question..
See foveal hypoplasia is condition where centre of part of retina is not having receptors in adequate amount leading to thin fovea and less vision compared to normal people ,this condition is usually stable but if there is some other retinal problem associated then vision can decrease.
