Can My Triglycerides Levels Cause Imminent Heart Attack?

My Total cholesterol is 177, which I know is good. My HDL is 39, my LDL is 91, my Triglycerides are kind of high at 234 and my VLDL is 47, which is a little high. I ve been afraid of having a heart attack sometime soon. Im on Omega-3 & take a low dose Bayer for women, but am still afraid. Can you explain my levels and tell me if I am dangerously high or if I am okay?

Hello,

Lipids are an important index when calculating the risk for CAD (coronary artery disease or so-called heart attack).

On the other hand, there are other factors that affect this risk and are as important. So, your age, gender, family history, body mass in relation to height (BMI), sugar levels, if you are active or have a sedentary lifestyle, can affect the risk for CAD as well.

In your case, given the values of the lipids in your blood (cholesterol and triglycerides) you have no increased risk for CAD compared to the rest of the population as your lipids are within normal limits.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
