I am Ruchi. I am pregnant. My due date is 30 oct 2016. i was having severe labor pain on night 27 oct 2016, i went to doctor, but she was available, so nurse handled me, and she gave me dyclofenac tablet and sent me back to home saying and told when pain increases then only come. I wonder why she gave me dyclofenac. is dyclofenac good at this time
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Hope you had a safe delivery Sorry for late reply.However, this may not be your last pregnancy and this information may still help you in future. Labour pains are spasmodic pains and not inflammatory in character.So the use of diclofenac is not very indicated to reduce pain.Also, pain during labour is normal and will pass when the baby comes out.The use of diclofenac and other NSAIDs during the latter part of pregnancy may cause premature closure of the fetal ductus arteriosus, fetal renal impairment, inhibition of platelet aggregation, and delay labor and delivery. There are no adequate and well controlled studies of diclofenac or other NSAIDs in pregnant women.It may not harm the baby as used just for a short time. Hope this will help Best regards
