Can One Take Alieve / Ibuprophen For Pain While On Bactrim?
my doctor put me on bactrim dd because i just had a breast reduction 2months ago and i appear to have an infection(it hurts and really red. I've been on for about 7days so far and i know some of the pain is associated with me lifting to much. can i take alieve or ibprophen for pain while on bactrim
Pain and redness usually indicates post operative infection with inflammatory changes as you mentioned. Bactrim DS contains sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. It helps to cure the infection. Yes, Aleve and Ibuprofen tablets are Non steroid anti inflammatory drugs which can be used for pain and inflammation.
According to available literature there are no known drug interactions between Bactrium DS and these NSAIDS. But better to start any medicines with your doctor's advice only, as he is well known of your actual history and present condition. So, please discuss this with your doctor and follow his advice.
