Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am taking Coversyl 10mg for high blood pressure and also I had a stroke in March 2012 Also taking Minipress and Metoprolol Your site says Coversyl only goes up to 8mg. I have been telling my doctor i am dizzy and light headed for weeks now. They say it is my Vestibular but could it be The Coversyl?
Yes, it may result in hypotension (fall in BP). The initial dose of coversyl is usually 4 mg once daily which can be increased up to 8 to 16 mg per day depending upon the response. Based on the history you seem to have developed hypotension apparently caused by coversyl. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring of your blood pressure to safely use these medications. Besides, taking minipress just before going to bed may also reduce effects such as dizziness, weakness, and light headedness.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
