My friend has epilepsy & donated plasma & soon afterwards suffered a seizure. I have told her that she should not be donating at all but not really sure if this is true. We both live in Minneapolis Mn. This has happened to her before & I am pretty sure when she donates she does not tell them that she has epilepsy. I don't believe she has even told her doctors that she donates. Am I correct in telling her she should not be donating?
Epilepsy is not an absolute contraindication for donating plasma. However, if the person's seizures are not well controlled, or if she is taking high dose anti-epileptic medications, then it is better not to donate.
