Can Pericarditis Effusion Be Caused By Chest Injury?
can a person diagnosed with Pericarditis Effusion from a blow to the chest as a result from an attack. Travel from Nigeria to Ireland because health Insurance won't cover her in Nigeria. Patient is female and is 6 years old and was in good health before accident.
Hi, Thanks for your query. Accident can cause pericardial effusion, if there is some injury to vessel and there is hemorrhage inside the pericardial sac. After few days of accident, effusion can be due to ongoing inflammation or any infection introduced during the accident. If it is smaller one it can be followed up by supportive treatment and if large one and causing symptom, may need urgent tapping....
Best wishes
