Can Plantar Fasciitis Cause Pain In The Hip, Leg And Foot?

My husband woke up with pain in his foot and ankle and had swelling. He went to Dr. andwas diagnosed with plantar fasciitis 2 and 1/2 weeks ago. He is wearing the boot and using crutches but is still having swelling in the foot. Today he woke up and has pain in the hip, leg and the foot is really swollen. We did get outand take a long drive today so was wondering if.... Could the drive have caused this and is it normal to have swelling go up and down for this long of time with plantar fasciitis? The foot and ankle was x rayed andsaid to not have a break and he does not remember injuring it, just woke upwith it hurting.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Plantar fasciitis generally causes pain in the sole of the foot.

As first-line management, you can take drugs like gabapentin for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
