Can Radiation From CT Scan Cause Red Rash On Face, Neck And Shoulder?
I had a CT scan, of my head, with and without contrast yesterday. This morning I woke up with a fine, red rash on my face, neck and shoulders. It is a little itchy but really feels more like a sunburn. No other symptoms. Could this be dye allergy (I've had contrast in the past), or excess radiation?
Should I go to an ER since GP office is closed for the holidays?
1.Its delayed allergic reaction after contrast injection. ( as it has not started immediately after the injection) 2.Radiation - after a head CT alone will not cause such symptoms. 3.Mean while you can try anti allergic medication from pharmacy. 4.If anti allergic will not helps and symptoms persists - you might need to visit ER. 5.Do not scratch the area as it may cause infections / inflammatory changes. 6.The above symptoms might be entirely new without involving any thing to do with CT. If symptoms persists - it needs to be evaluated.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
