Can Recurring Tonsillitis Lead To Parathyroid Cancer?

Had swollen glands / tonsilitus ever since I was a child on a regular basis, also had glandular fever when I was 19, I am now 36. Had a scan on my throat last October which showed quite a few swollen lymph nodes and am impression, whatever that means? My throat is still sore some days and there is one swollne lymph node that I can still feel. I have since been referred to an ENT specialist who wants to test the parathyroid gland for hyperparathyrodism. I am worried out of my mind as I think I have a swollen nodule, I have got an appointment for a parathroid scan less than 2 weeks after my appointment with the specialist, although she said she didn t think it was serious and the swollen lymph node was soft. I have read a lot online about cancerous lymph nodes and paraphyroid cancer. I have always been thirsty all my life, I drink a ridiculous amount of water and recently have to urinate more frequently and for a longer period of time. I have had stomach problems most of my life too, nearly ten years ago I had food poisioning and I ended up losing 6 pints of blood and having a blood tranfusion. If I had a form of cancer would the doctors tell me / let on?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello,

Parathyroid cancer is extremely rare (almost nonexistent), so there is no need to concern about it.
Reactive neck lymphnodes are a common finding in neck ultrasound.
There is no need to get worried as there are no signs of cancer present.
The doctors would have let you know if there was something to get concerned.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
