Can Sciatica Be The Cause Of Uncomfortable Pain In Buttocks?
I have an uncomfortable pain in my right buttock! It is worse when I sit for long periods and also when I stand for long periods! I have seen my GP re Sciatica but he says it is not as this would go down my leg and toes too. He has given me some excercises to help strengthen and loosen the muscles
Well, sciatica is a symptom and not a condition. Due to lumbar spinenerve root entrapment there will be pain anywhere in the course of the nerve. It's never said only in hip or the whole leg.
As there is pain in the gluteus muscle this is as per me the nerve root entrapment in the lumbar spine. But this may land up to sciatica symptoms if the spine isn't stabilized.
Doing hot water fermentation at the lower back, core stability exercise, spinal muscle strengthening exercises, hip strengthening exercises, lower limb strengthening will be of good choice to avoid the symptoms to rise.
In my clinical practice of over 12 years most cases have responded well to exercise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
