Can Shingles Cause Extreme Itching In Breast Especially In The Nipple Area ?

Thank you. I am a 7 year old female.For about 6 month now I have extreme itching in my left brest, especially in the nipple aere.I was at my doctor's in May about it. She thoght it is shingles and prescriped med. for one week.I should also say, it goes away for a week or two, than comes back.Your answer would be gratly appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
As far as my clinical experience goes, I feel your description matches more with eczema. To treat the same, keep the area well moistuirsed by using a good emollient cream or olive oil. Also use a steroid cream like mometasone twice in a day for few days. If there is any fissuring, cuts or oozing in the area, its preferable to use a steroid antibiotic combination cream. I do not think it is shingles.
