Can Sleep Apnea Cause Heart Palpitations?

Can sleep apnea cause a low ejection fraction and/or heart palpitations? I m an avid runner and just recently started having palpitations. Got checked out (echo, holter monitor) and was told my EF was a bit low. I m 34 and have been on cpap for years but am wondering if my machine isn t doing the job anymore. I ve been feeling run down for a couple weeks but for the most part I m very active and healthy. Unfortunately my doctor has been very slow to get back to me. Any advice you could offer would be great. I m very nervous and confused.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your symptom of palpitations with a low ejection fraction as well as a history of being an avid runner I am suggesting that you are gradually developing a congestive heart failure
In view of this please see a Cardiologist specialist for further expect clinical assessment and adequate drug prescription
In regards to your CPAP for your sleep apnea I am very sure it is working because this is the treatment of choice for those with that condition
I hope this helps
