Can Steroid Injections Cause Loss Of Skin Pigmentations?
Good day
I have a white spot on my face it came about less than a month ago and I believe it may have something to do with the facial peels that I have been getting. A steriod injection was given to me at the site by my dermatologist, could this have anything do do with the absence of pigment in this area. If so how can I get rid of it?
Thank you for your question. It is sometimes a side effect of chemical peels to develop post inflammatory hypopigmentation. I would advise better to use a topical corticosteroid. You can get it without prescription, for example Advantan unguentum, used twice a day for a period of 2-4 weeks.
Hope I have answered your query. Feel free to contact me if anything is unclear.
Both facial peel and steroid injection can cause post-inflammatory hypopigmentation, steroid injection is more prone to cause white spot but it will remain localized to the area of injection. Use Placentrex gel twice daily.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
