Can Steroid Injections Cause Waxy Mouth Like Side Effect?

i had an epidural steroid injection for a herniated lumbar disk 1 week ago today and yesterday it started feeling like my mouth was coated in wax and when i look at my tongue it looks like it is covered in tiny hairs. what do i do? is this a possible side effect from the esi?

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
You have developed oral candidiasis,a kind of fungal infection,as a side effect of steroid.'Hairy' tongue may be caused again by fungal infection (aspergillus Niger-a customary harmless organism)
By suppressing immune reactions , steroids may cause infections to flare up, notably candidiasis & other fungal infection.
Diseases or conditions linked to candidiasis include steroids,
systemic /parenteral corticosteroids including epidural may result in oral candidiasis
About 35-50% of humans possess C. albicans as part of their normal oral microbiota.The exact process by which Candida species switch from acting as a normal oral commensal in the carrier (saprophytic) state to acting as a pathogenic organism (parasitic state) is not completely understood.
