Does A Steroid Shot Cause Bitter Taste In The Mouth?
I recently had a steroid shot and now many things I try to eat seem to have a bitter taste. Only the taste buds on the right side of my tongue seem to be affected. Could the steroid shot have caused this? Who would be best to consult, my doctor or my dentist?
Steroid shot can cause a bitter taste in mouth as a side effect as there are a number of medications that can cause altered taste in mouth as a side effect..
Steroid is one among the list..
You should also check for any white or yellow coating on tongue that can be due to yeast overgrowth and can alter the taste..
So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
As of now you can chew flavoured sugarfree chewing gum and gargle with flavoured antiseptic mouthwash so that the bad taste is masked..
You can also clean your tongue using a tongue cleaner..
Limit intake of high aroma foods like onion and garlic especially in raw form..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
