Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Stomach Movement Through Diaphragm Cause Bleeding?
I had surgery for a hiatus hernia 8 years ago. Abgout 6 months ago I had an upper endoscopy because I was having chronic nausea. Celiac was ruled out but I have a large hiatus hernia again. Im was advised not to have it repaired because it may very well open again. My hemoglobin has dropped to 106 and recently up to 111. Could I have some bleeding due to my stomach moving up and down through my diaphragm?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, low hemoglobin may not be due to hernia, if the internal bleeding being suspected then the best way to rule this out is to get done the stool lab test, beside this chronic illness could be the cause like infection, less diet intake, stress that may be the causes, hope this information helps.
