Can Sulfameth-trimeth Susp Be Used For Ear Ache?

I have a son with an ear ache. He said it is popping. I last took him to the doctor Nov. 2013. I think this is what his Dr gave him for that same problem. It is Sulfameth-Trimeth Susp (Grape). The date on the bottle shows to use before Nov. 2014. Is this for ear aches ? He has wax in his ear but can t see far enough down to see if some is next to eardrum which may be causing the popping noise ??? Would this antibiotic be for something like this? Thank you.

Thanks for your query.
Sufamthoxazole with Trimethoprin is a very good combination and works best for most of the infections including the upper respiratory tract infections.
This will work the best in you child and the best part it suit him too.
He shall need an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen for the pain and swelling.

Wax alone may not be the reason for the pain, there can be middle ear infection that can cause such a severe pain in the ear in a child.
I would advise you to take him to the ENT Surgeon to get a proper clinical diagnosis and treatment accordingly.
