Can Suprapubic Catheter Help To Treat Subarachnoid Hemorrhage?
82 years old female patient suffered suprarachnoid hemorrhage two months ago, has been in coma since, unable to open eyes, slight movement on pain stimulus, on trachy and NG tube feeding. unable to empty bladder completely and no bowel. She has multiple antibiotics resistance due to multiple urine and lung infection. Can a suprapubic catheter help ?
As a urologist, I can understand your anxiety. Since she's likely to be in coma for some time its always better to place a SPC. SPC is suprapubic catheter. It carries less chance of urinary infection compared to a urethral catheter.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
