Hi There, I have just come back from an appointment with my surgeon to remove both my plantar fascias that I have on each foot. I have mine as a growth in the MIDDLE of my foot arch and NOT ON MY HEEL (as apparently that is the most common place for them). I have had exercises, steroid injections (twice), Lithotripsy shockwave therapy (6 sessions on each foot) and nothing has worked!! The only choice left is surgical removal, BUT! He told me there is only a 15% chance it will improve. The plantar is attached to the skin so he has to cut holes in my arches and replace with skin from elsewhere. I am told by him the op is very risky and I could end up with having my foot amputated!!!! I cannot walk further than 15 metres at the moment so I belive I have to have the op. When he said amputation, I was really worried about it. Can someone give me a second opinion, and how likely is amputation on a % basis. I am extremely depressed about this and really need help asap as I have to sign disclaimers very soon if I want the op. This is urgent, so please help me! Kind Regards, Simon James, UK.
