Can Taking Inactive Pills In The 3rd Week Of The System Followed By Last 7 Active Pills Help Have Earlier Periods?
Hi! I'm on the 28-day Sprintec birth control pill. I want my period to come a week early, because I don't want my period to come on the week it's supposed to. I understand that the active pills help to post-pone menstruation. I was hoping to be able to take the placebo, or inactive, pills the third week of the system and then the last seven active pills after the inactive ones are finished. Will this work? Will it affect the effectiveness of the system? Will there be a higher chance of pregnancy of I do this?
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.
If you stop taking the pills early, you will almost certainly get a period. If you then start a new pack of pills (or the active pills) your bleeding will almost certainly stop before the week where you want it to stop - yes, I think that this might work. The alternative is to skip the placebo pills and just start a new pack so that you delay your period to a later date. For a patient of my own, I would recommend the delayed period approach because I think that it would provide better birth control coverage to stay on the pill.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
