Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
7 month old girl running fever last couple of days. No fever last 14hrs but kicks and screams when we try to rock her and wakes up screaming every couple of hours. Has two teeth coming in but abdomen is hard. Been treating fever with IBprofen and Tylenol. Anything we are missing?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain teething can lead to mild fever and diarrhea as during teething there can be itching and soreness in gums of the infant and the infant tend to put anything in mouth to bite over the gums for relief and can carry infection along inside the mouth and stomach leading to fever and loose motions..
But in case if the diarrhea is severe with large volume watery stools it can be due to infection in stomach and it needs to be treated with antibiotics and you need to consult a Paediatrician and get evaluated..
As of now feed your child with more of fluids to cover for water loss.. Give Tylenol if there is fever.. Do cool compresses over the gums if there is inflammation and give him teething rings chilled in refrigerator for relief..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards, Honey Nandwani Arora.
