Can The Infertility Medicine, Norethisterone, Negatively Affect Chances Of Conception?
we've been trying to concieve for 2.5 years now & i have been a patient at the infertility clinic for over 1 year. I am on my 10th round of Clomid (taken days 2-6) and i have also been prescribed Norethisterone (to take days 14-28) I believe the reason I have been prescribed Norethisterone is due to some discomfort during intercourse and occasional bleeding after sex (although this doesnt occur as often as it used to) I am also having a Laparoscopy in 3 weeks.
My cycle varies slightly from month to month being generally 27-30 days long. I do ovulate (this has been confirmed by numerous pregesterone blood tests and at home ovulation kits and my basal body temps also show a clear rise approx half way through my cycle although this rise is always slow & over a few days.
My question is - will the Norethisterone have a negative effect on my fertility and chances of becoming pregnant? Everything I read about it says it prevents ovulation, thickens cervical fluid making it difficult for sperm and can cause problems if I do become pregnant?
I'd really appreciate some answers - i'm now on day 16 of my cycle and haven't dared to take the Norethisterone yet, (i though i'd wait until i knew i had ovulated - i believe i may have ovulated yesterday as my temp was higher this morning). Thankyou.
