Can the presence of a rectocele cause significant bloating, abdominal and stomach cramps? Background: I have a rectocele which developed after my VH in 2009. Then following another surgery last year after which I had to use morphine for several weeks causing straining and constipation, the rectocele noticeably worsened and began to bother me, so I have arranged with my gyn to have a repair done in January 2016. Recently, I have noticed a marked increase in abdominal bloating, abdominal cramps and upper stomach cramps. Also there is significant pain in the upper right quadrant. My doctor has ordered an ultrasound to rule out anything serious. My blood work, stool and urine samples are all normal. I maintain a healthy diet, weigh 130 pounds, and otherwise, consider myself in good health.
